About Gerry Meyer
Gerry Meyer has over 25 years of experience in all aspects of Human Resources Management, business strategy, organizational design and change management as both a practitioner and a consultant. He has worked in private, publicly-traded and public (municipal and federal) sectors, in a wide variety of industries including manufacturing, real estate, services, and technology.
Before relocating to Vancouver, Mr. Meyer was VP Human Resources at the Minto Group for ten years, a family-owned real estate development company with over $3B in assets with operations in Canada and Florida. During his time at Minto, he was involved in virtually all major aspects of the business including re-alignment, family succession, family office strategy and executive transition, as well as establishing and maturing the Corporate Services and HR functions.
Mr. Meyer has created and managed HR service delivery for companies ranging in scale from 100 to 1500 employees, providing the full scope of the Human Resources Management mandate – talent acquisition, development, and rewards, as well as C-suite, executive, and senior leadership assessment, development and transition, both incoming and outgoing. His consulting experience includes working with a diversity of clients such as Bombardier, CTV, Honda Canada, Bank of Montreal, Seagate, and American Express Financial Services, in such areas as organizational development, operations re-alignment, HR service delivery design and implementation, change management, communications, and technology implementations.
Mr. Meyer is currently involved with a number of family enterprises across Canada, providing advisory services in the areas of business strategy, family employment and next generation development, family and executive compensation, organizational design and effectiveness, and family office strategy and design.
He is a past member of the Human Resources Professional Association of Ontario, having sat on the Board of Directors for the Ottawa Chapter, and the Provincial Educational Standards Committee. He is currently a member of the CEO Advisory Committee for the BC HRMA.
Gerry has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Carleton University and a Certificate in Labour-Management Relations from the University of Ottawa. He currently holds a CHRP Designation from BC HRMA, a Human Resources and Compensation Committee Certification from The Directors College, and is pursuing certification as a Family Enterprise Advisor from the Institute of Family Enterprise Advisors.
Mr. Meyer has been invited to speak at conferences over the years on various topical HR matters and issues, including change management, effective termination processes, and the future of Human Resources Management.
